Description

Cubic is a market-leading, technology provider of integrated solutions that increase situational understanding for transportation, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) and training customers worldwide to decrease urban congestion and improve the militaries’ effectiveness and operational readiness.

In November 2016, Cubic established One Cubic Engineering strategic goals which focused on unifying engineering across the enterprise.  Goals included reducing time-to-market and production cost, enforcing structured, cross functional design reviews and aligning engineering tools used for design and product data management. PLM was envisioned to be a key enabler in achieving these goals.

Cubic evaluated several PLM applications and in early 2018, selected Aras as the PLM platform offering both flexibility and adaptability in the implementation of a common solution to be deployed across a diverse group of business units.  As PLM brought an application which was "brand-new" to their engineering community, Cubic partnered with Aras Professional Services to assist with process improvement and standardization, system configuration and customization, data migration, system integration, administrator and end-user training, system deployment and HyperCare.

Cubic established an ambitious scope for initial deployment, implementing functionality to address five global standardized processes, three CAD connectors, two custom integrations with SAP ERP, as well as multi-faceted access control capabilities.  Approximately fifteen (15) months after project kick off), Cubic deployed a common instance of Aras PLM on 1 July 2019 to hardware engineering and manufacturing users at its US-based defense business units; Five and one-half (5 ½) months later (mid-December 2019), PLM deployment was expanded to include Cubic's transportation business units (US & Int'l users) and  defense business units (Int'l users).

Cubic’s future road map for expansion of Aras PLM is considering elements such as Document Management, Requirements Engineering, Simulation Data/Process Management, Software Application Lifecycle Management, Quality Management, Manufacturing Process Planning, and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) to optimize management of the Corporation's diverse product and system catalog throughout the entire lifecycle.
