The School of Engineering Technology at Purdue University is leading the charge in PLM education by introducing Mechanical, Aeronautical, and Engineering Technology students to PLM tools and processes. Leveraging two entry-level CAD modeling courses, Professor Travis Fuerst teaches design for reuse in the context of PDM to over 650 students each semester. Students are introduced to PDM through Aras Innovator®, where they store and submit all their CAD data and hand sketches for grading. After two semesters of using Aras Innovator in the classroom to store and evaluate CAD data and onboarding six design-build teams, the Purdue Digital Systems Process & Tools Club created a senior-level course to support, train, and govern the Aras Innovator implementation for the Design Build Clubs and began to build a pipeline of PLM practitioners. In this presentation, we will provide updates on Aras Innovator’s involvement in the classroom, and you will also hear how the DSP&T Club was formed and its status from the student leaders, as well as updates from the tenant clubs on their adoption of Aras Innovator.
