10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Configurable User Interface
Bob Ellis - Aras

Audience: System Administrator

Aras Innovator 12 introduces an enhanced client user interface that can be modeled in the database using the Configurable User Interface (CUI).  In this hands-on session, you will learn about the components of the CUI data model to construct and rearrange:

  • Item Accordion Views
  • Relationship Tabs
  • Item and Relationship Toolbar Menus
  • Item Sidebar Buttons
  • Windows Shortcut Keys

You will also learn how to define the appearance of a UI control based on a user's identity membership and/or the current classification of an item.

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Configuring the New BOM Structure Tab
MaryLou Francis - Aras

Audience: System Administrator

Item Relationship tabs, that previously used specialized grids, have been updated to use the standard Aras platform components: Query Definitions and Tree Grid Views. In this hands-on training session, you will learn to configure the BOM Structure Tab to provide end-users with a greater level of control while displaying Part BOM structures. You will use the Query Builder tool to retrieve Part BOM data and configure the Tree Grid View to display the Part BOM data in an indented table format on the existing BOM Structure Tab.

Configuration settings include the ability to specify the level of the structure to expand, the ability to control the visibility of individual relationship levels, default tree-depth growth, and conditional filtering by Effectivity variables within a scope.

3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Implementing Extended Classification
Connie Burke - Aras

Audience: System Administrator

Aras Innovator supports the ability to create a global pool of dynamic properties (xProperties), that are grouped in multiple classification trees (xClasses) and shared across ItemTypes. A Classification Administrator can assign xProperties to multiple xClasses, in which xProperties assigned to parent xClasses are inherited by the child xClasses. In addition, access to set, view, or change Xproperties can be configured using the standard Permission model.

In this hands-on session, you will learn how to create and configure Extended Properties and Extended Classification Trees using a sample business case.  You will also learn how to refine the search grid to query using xProperty and xClass values.

2:55 PM - 3:50 PM
Creating New Effectivity Scope & Adding Effectivity Variables
MaryLou Francis - Aras

Audience: System Administrators and Application Users

Aras Innovator supports the ability to conditionally define effectivity variables for items in a structure. This condition can consist of multiple variables influencing the decision to include or exclude an item in a specific configuration of the structure. The prebuilt Aras Part BOM scope provides commonly used Model, Unit and Date effectivity variables, with an capacity to add other effectivity variables easily.

In this hands-on training session, you learn how to incorporate Effectivity Services into Product Engineering by creating and applying effectivity scope and variants. You will learn how to enter parameter values for effectivity variables and resolve structures by effectivity to generate configured structures. You will use standard Aras platform components: Query Definitions and Tree Grid Views, to manage multiple effectivities on the same Item relationship. You will evaluate Innovator’s Free-Form Boolean expression language (based on the Aras Markup Language) which enables you to easily define restrictions and relationships between Variables.

4:20 PM - 5:15 PM
Quality Management Systems
Connie Burke - Aras

Audience: Application User

Aras Quality Planning uses APQP and FMEA tools to manage risk, improve quality and achieve compliance across a broad range of industry standards. Aras Quality Systems uses CAPA and RCA capabilities to capture quality issues, thoroughly analyze and drive product & process changes to eliminate future re-occurrence.

In this hands-on session, you will learn how to incorporate quality design considerations throughout the entire product lifecycle by utilizing a closed-loop quality system to incorporate feedback from in-use products to improve the quality of future designs. You will learn to create a Corrective Action Plan with relationships to:

  • Quality Events: Audit Findings, NCR, & PR
  • Containment: Purge, Hold, & Stop Ship Notices
  • Analysis: Root Cause
  • Corrective Actions: Deviation, Rework Orders, & Waivers
  • Preventive Actions: DFMEA & PFMEA

1:30 PM - 2:15 PM
Requirements Engineering
Connie Burke - Aras

Audience: Application User

Aras Innovator has developed a new generation of requirements management. Requirements Engineering provides powerful capabilities for complex systems engineering planning and development through the creation of a single multi-discipline requirements hierarchy. Change management workflow assures requirements stay in sync as the system or product evolves over the lifecycle. An editor will be used, based on the Tech Docs Framework, to author requirements documents consisting of chapters with included requirements. Both the requirements and the document will have lifecycles and a release process.

In this hands-on session, you will learn how to author a Requirements document, add multiple requirements, and create links to parts and file items. You will run several included reports to determine which requirements have been fulfilled.

2:20 PM - 3:05 PM
What’s New in Aras Innovator 12
MaryLou Francis - Aras

Audience: Application User

Aras Innovator simplified the web client user interface with improved navigation allowing maximum productivity. You will gain an in-depth introduction to the new UI and improved features of the Aras Innovator enterprise application framework.

In this hands-on session, you will explore the new Table of Contents and Item Panes, open custom searches and items as separate tabs, and investigate the updated toolbars where the most common commands are clearly highlighted, and secondary commands are grouped in convenient dropdown selectors. Users will tryout the simplified item editing and get exposure to the new accordion views when opening items. You will experiment with the new favorites approach to allow users to flag saved searches and pin favorites to Quick Access area of Navigation Panel and sidebar. Users will be introduced to new tab functions and a Save Layout command.

3:10 PM - 3:55 PM
Defining User Access with MAC Policies
Bob Ellis - Aras

Audience: System Administrator

Mandatory Access Control (MAC) Policies are designed to allow you to create a set of rules to further control access to user information. These policies allow for dynamic control when determining item permissions based upon the properties of the current user and the item being affected

In this hands-on session, you will learn how to create a MAC Policy and define the logic used in a policy rule. Several use cases will be examined including defining access rights to an Item based on a user's geographic location. In addition, an Aras User Visibility policy will be created and activated to restrict a user from seeing information about other Identities associated with an item.

4:25 PM - 5:10 PM
Manufacturing Process Planning
Connie Burke - Aras

Audience: Application User

Aras Manufacturing Process Planning (MPP) empowers manufacturing engineers to create rich manufacturing plans using connected engineering data on the Aras Platform. See how plans are created using engineering data, and the EBOM is rectified with the MBOM with changes flowing to shop floor instructions. Engineers can add phantoms, consumables, and visuals to create comprehensive plans.

In this hands-on session, you will learn how to manage manufacturing data by creating location-based Process Plans that define operation steps and concurrently generate detailed work instructions.  You will also learn how the MPP application can derive an MBOM from an EBOM and how to reconcile conflicts. Phantom parts will also be added to accommodate different manufacturing plants.
