Description

The School of Engineering Technology at Purdue University is leading the charge in PLM education by introducing Mechanical, Aeronautical and Engineering Technology students to PLM tools and processes. Leveraging two entry level CAD modeling courses, Professor Travis Fuerst teaches design for reuse in the context of PDM to over 650 students each semester. Students are introduced to PDM through Aras Innovator where they store and submit for grading all their CAD data and hand sketches. Since only deploying the Aras Innovator in the Spring 2023 semester, three Purdue design build clubs (Railside Robotics – Battlebots, Quarter Scale Tractor, and RoboMaster Clubs) have decided to adopt Aras Innovator to manage their product data. In this presentation we will discuss how Aras Innovator has been incorporated into the classroom and you will hear from the student design build club teams that have begun their journey in implementing PDM.
