Fast forward a year or so… Armadillo’s products are now being used by manufacturers in a variety of industries. High-end Robot Arms are leased using a Product-as-a-Service business model, with “up-time” guarantees. In the last few days, the Armadillo team at HQ has noticed that on-equipment sensors are picking up unusual readings at some (but not all) customers. While these issues are not yet affecting up-time or product performance, customers will start complaining if the problems get worse. 

Let’s see if the Armadillo Robots team, using Aras Innovator, can once again save the day. The team will evaluate quality events and identify the root cause. The use of digital twins will allow the sensor readings to be interpreted in the context of the exact configuration of each robot arm. The team will then determine corrective actions for current units and implement preventive actions to ensure the issue is fixed for good. The team will take advantage of seamless integration between quality, product engineering, manufacturing process planning, technical documentation, and digital twins. The collaborative environment will allow users separated by geography and discipline to come together to resolve the issues in a timely manner.
