Achieving Change Management across Engineering and Production

Managing a wide product portfolio with limited production quantities and an high level of customization involves a relevant use of resources to process data generated by product engineering. With increasing volumes and complexity, developing a controlled process to manage release of engineering changes becomes a key factor to achieve efficiency, reduce process time and allow an industrial organization of the production.

The Aras Innovator platform allowed the development of an ECO workflow covering the entire process; engineering BOM organization is not compromised to cope with manufacturing needs and industrial engineers are assisted in manipulating the structure and verifying data consistency when releasing changes to production. The entire process is managed in a single workflow allowing priority management for changes affecting delivery of critical projects.

The entire project was managed keeping the focus on business needs rather than on software development and functionalities were tested starting from a very early stage, this allowed to have a platform quickly accepted by the users and immediately effective in reducing reworking activities and in managing priorities. Using the same approach IWT is now incrementally extending the use of the PLM platform and creating an integrated infrastructure to manage products throughout the organization.
